Dirty rice is a traditional New Orleans dish, which earned its name because cooked white rice turned “dirty” when chicken livers were sautéed into the rice along with garlic, onion, celery, parsley, and spices.
For a heartier dirty rice, substitute chicken, beef, or vegetable broth for water.
For additional “kick” in your dirty rice, add diced jalapeños and onions while browning the meat. You can also use a combination of spicy pork sausage with ground turkey or ground beef. Continue cooking as instructed. We recommend all meat products be fully cooked during step 1 of the cooking process.
Ingredients: parboiled long grain rice, onion, salt, garlic, spices, palm oil, bell peppers, paprika, mesquite smoke. (Packed in a facility that also uses wheat.)
Cooking Directions: Prepare Louisiana Purchase® Dirty Rice with 1 pound of your favorite meats. We recommend ground turkey, ground pork, ground venison, or ground beef.
Note: Cooking times may vary.
